Seriously, the wingsuit gameplay might be the unsung highlight of the game. Combining the likes of snowboarding, skiing, paragliding and daring wingsuit flying. While Steep was never the most successful or popular extreme sports game ever made (SSX exists after all), Steep was still an incredibly enjoyable and fairly mellow experience. It should be helpful during the middle of the harsh Summer heatwave as you can remind yourself what cold weather looks like. The game will be available to download for free until May 21. Players who enjoy Steep for free have plenty of paid DLC offerings in the works, and Ubisoft seems apt to push live events for the game on a regular monthly schedule. The free offering comes right after the release of Season 6: Carve the Curve, which promises new weekly and monthly challenges, as well as difficulty tweaks. Starting this weekend, players can grab the game for free via the Uplay launcher. If people are talking about Winter sports games, then they are certainly talking about Steep.
So there is no doubt that Steep has been the premier extreme sports title from the last few years.
Steep also saw the addition of a shared-online world, something we’ve seen in other recent Ubisoft titles. However, Ubisoft aimed for realism with Steep over arcade action, and the addition of wingsuits and paragliding helped set new boundaries. Steep originally looked to be a spiritual successor to the popular SSX series.
